Gators Drop NCAC Road Contest at DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind.—A first half goal proved to be the deciding factor as the Allegheny College men's soccer team fell in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action Saturday (Oct. 13) to DePauw University 1-0.

The Gators earned the first scoring opportunity of the game in the 15th minute as Owen Harkins had a shot saved.

Nick Ferreira had a pair of saves, coming in the 23rd and 25th minute.  However, in the 27th minute, Parker James was able to score for the Tigers, giving them a 1-0 lead.  The Gators earned a pair of corner kicks in the half, but were unable to convert the opportunities.

DePauw's lead nearly grew to two in the 47th minute as a shot hit the crossbar.  Jon Sion and Dillon Thoma then recorded shots on goal for the Gators, but both were turned away.

The Gators continued to pressure the DePauw defense, but were unable to break through as the first half Tiger goal proved to be the winner.

Ferreira ended the game with five saves in net for Allegheny.

The Tigers owned an 11-5 advantage in the shot department, though the Gators earned five corner kicks to DePauw's four.

The Gators are back at home Tuesday (Oct. 17) as they play host to Oberlin College.  The conference match is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.
