OBERLIN, Ohio—The Allegheny College men's soccer team fell in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action at Oberlin College 2-0 Tuesday (Oct. 17).
The Gators had the first two scoring opportunities. In the seventh minute,
Tolossa Hassan had a shot go high, while
Izaak Miller had a shot blocked in the 17
th minute.
In the 23
rd minute, Oberlin got on the board. Jesse Lauritsen's short pass to the middle found Jack McMillen for the goal.
The Gators continued to press the Oberlin defense, but were unable to break through for a goal.
In the closing minutes of the opening half, Oberlin scored their second goal as Jiadi Cheng found the back of the net after a pair of quick passes.
Three minutes into the second half, Miller put a shot on net but was saved by Fiachra McDonagh. Six minutes later, Miller put another shot on net which was turned away.
The Gators continued to control the pace in the second half, peppering the Yeomen with shots. In the 45 minutes, the Gators outshot Oberlin 14-8.
Goal keeper
David Stekla made four saves in the half to keep the score at 2-0 but the Gator offense was unable to make up the difference as they fell 2-0.
In all, the Gators outshot the Yeomen 20-8, with each team putting eight shots on net. Hassan had six of those shots with two on target. Miller had four shots with two on goal.
Danny Reid also had two shots on goal.
The Gators are back in action Saturday (Oct. 21) for a noon matchup at NCAC foe Witteneberg University.
