MEADVILLE, Pa.—A big first half of play lifted Depauw University over the Allegheny College women's basketball team, 73-38, Saturday (Dec. 3) in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play.
The Tigers jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game before
Emily Smith got the Gators on the board with a three. With three-and-a-half minutes to play in the first, another
Emily Smith three cut the Tiger advantage to five, 14-9. However, the Tigers finished the quarter on an 8-0 run to take a 22-9 lead into the second.
The second quarter belonged to the Tigers, as they controlled the flow by outscoring the Gators 30-9 to take a 52-18 lead into the half.
Emily Smith led the Gators with six points in the opening 20 minutes, converting two-of-three shots from three point land.
Kiersten Librizzi added three points. The Gators committed just five turnovers in the half.
The third quarter was a defensive battle as the teams combined for just six field goals. The Tigers outscored the Gators 12-7 in those 10 minutes to take a 64-25.
The Gators had their best quarter of offense in the fourth, outscoring the Tigers 13-9 but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.

Jazmen Moore and Smith led the Gator offense with seven points apiece. Librizzi had a solid game, grabbing eight rebounds while scoring five and assisting on three.
Delaney Arbore scored six and stole two.
Angela Martelli blocked a pair of shots while
Maia Joiner had a pair of steals.
The Allegheny bench account for 23 points. In total, the Gators collected 36 rebounds, 14 of which were on the offensive end.
The Gators are back in action Wednesday (Dec. 7) at NCAC foe Kenyon College.
