MEADVILLE, Pa.—The Allegheny College men's soccer team's offense was on display as they downed the College of Wooster of 4-0 Tuesday (Oct. 25) in home North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play.
Before the game, the Gators honored their twelve senior players.
After back-and-forth action to start the game, senior
Nick Dias got the Gators on the board. After a
Liam McNamee throw into the box, Dias found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season.
The Fighting Scots had a chance to tie the game in the 21
st minute on a penalty kick. The shot hit the bottom of the cross bar and Gator keeper
Chris DeNelle was able to keep it out of the net to preserve the lead.
Minutes later, the Gators increased their advantage to two.
Bryce Evans' corner kick bounced off of McNamee and deflected in by
Izaak Miller, his third of the season.
DeNelle made three saves for the Gators in the opening 45 minutes as they maintained their 2-0 lead at half.
The Gators offense continued to fire on all cylinders as they increased their lead early in the second half. Miller connected with
Tolossa Hassan on a through pass, beating the goalie to the ball and burying it in the back of the net. The goal marked Hassan's second of the season.
Senior
Ezra Pasackow scored his first goal of the season in the final 10 minutes of the game. The ball bounced around between defenders after a corner kick and made its way to Pasackow who pushed it into the back of the net.
The defense of the Gators defense continued its strong play led by DeNelle as they held on for the clean sheet.
Miller had a goal and an assist while McNamee had a pair of assists. Hassan and Pasackow also had goals for the Gators while Evans had an assist.
DeNelle ended the game with four saves for the clean sheet.
Offensively, the Gators outshot the Fighting Scots 16-12 and earned six corners to Wooster's six.
The Gators conclude their 2016 season Saturday (Oct. 29) at Depauw University.
