MEADVILLE, Pa. - Despite a memorable performance from freshman Alex Victor, the Allegheny football team was defeated 69-21 by a strong DePauw Tiger squad at Frank B. Furher Field.

Victor hauled in seven catches for 219 yards, the second-highest single-game total in program history, which included first half touchdown grabs of 74 and 86 yards. While the Gators amassed 365 passing yards, DePauw showcased a prolific ground game, running for 485 yards and six touchdowns.

Sophomore Logan Lee completed 13 passes for 288 yards and the aformentioned two touchdowns to Victor, while senior Jon Nigro came on in relief to go 4-for-5 through the air for 77 yards and one touchdown, a 63-yarder midway through the fourth quarter to sophomore Francisco Guzman (pictured above).

DePauw seized the momentum early, as the Tigers jumped out to a 21-0 lead just nine minutes into the first quarter, with a 20-yard touchdown run from Jason Kirchhoff and a pair of touchown catches by Chase Sadler.

After seeing their first three possessions end in punts, the Gators got on the board on the third play of their fourth trip, when Lee hit Victor on the run over the middle, and the freshman scampered 74 yards to paydirt.  Ben Ziolkowski's extra point was good, and the Gators trailed 21-7 with 3:42 left in the first stanza.

DePauw answered right back, with Kirchhoff scoring on the Tigers' first play of the ensuing drive on a 62-yard scamper up the middle, pushing the lead to 28-7 with 3:26 remaining in the quarter.

The Gators following possession ended in a turnover on downs, before DePauw put together a four-play, 72-yard drive to jump ahead 35-7 on a 17-yard touchdown run from Nick Delgado in the closing seconds of the first quarter.

The Tigers added onto their lead with a two-yard rushing touchdown from Ramon Lopez four minutes into the second quarter, before Lee and Victor hooked up for the second time in the half on a carbon copy of the first, this one an 86-yard catch-and-run over the middle, to make it 42-14 with 10:59 left in the first half.

DePauw added six more points before halftime, while ending a pair of Gator drives with interceptions, to take a 48-14 lead into the intermission, before the Tigers turned in three more touchdowns in the third quarter.

Allegheny closed out the day's scoring midway through the final quarter.  Facing a third-and-eight after taking over at their own 24 following a punt, Nigro completed a nine-yard strike to Johnny Thomas Jr., before the senior signal caller scampered for a three-yard run.  Nigro then found Guzman over the middle, and the speedy second-year outraced the defense for the 63-yard touchdown, his first career score.  Ziolkowski followed with the successful extra point.

Seven different players made at least one reception on the day for the Gators, with McFarland hauling in five catches for 63 yards, marking his fourth game this season with at least five grabs.  Despite their strong performance through the air, the Gators were stifled on the ground, netting just 11 rushing yards.

Defensively, Tristan Rhoades tallied a team-high nine tackles, including seven solos, while Juwan Campbell added six and Jon Scroxton five.  Marcus Davenport tallied a 10-yard sack for Allegheny, while Miles Oladimeji, Aryn Wrona, Jahnaaman Boone, and Zi'Tear Wilson all tallying tackles for loss.

Kirchhoff paced the Tiger running game, totaling 171 yards on 10 carries, while Henry added 102 yards on 14 tries.  Sadler gained 126 yards on four catches - all touchdowns - while quarterback Matt Hunt completed 10 of 12 passes for 176 yards.  Will Longthorne had five tackles and a pair of interceptions to lead the Tiger defense.

The Gators will look to return to winning ways next Saturday, Oct. 22, as they travel to Granville, Ohio to take on Denison at 2 p.m.
