AUBURNDALE, Fla.— The Washington & Jefferson pitching staff kept the Gators on lockdown, using a six-run fourth inning to upend Allegheny 9-1, on Tuesday afternoon at the Lake Myrtle complex.

Robert DiMaggio went 2-of-4 from the plate to lead the Gators offensively, driving in the squad's lone run while continuing his productive week in the leadoff spot. Senior

Dan Bonnett logged a hit each, while Bonnett additionally scored the lone run for the Gators.

Cy Perry impressed on the mound, striking out seven batters while only allowing one run over 3.2 innings pitched.
The Presidents struck in the bottom of the first, taking an early, 1-0 lead. The Gators tied the game in the top of the third, sparked by a triple to left center by Bonnett put the squad in position before DiMaggio laced a double to center field, scoring Bonnett and knotting the contest up at 1-1.
After Washington & Jefferson plated a run in the third, the Presidents did the core of their damage in the fourth, scoring six hits on four runs and a Gator error. Starting pitcher Joe Vita took control of the game, pitching eight innings of work, forcing 10 groundouts and 10 fly outs while only giving up the one earned run. Allegheny only put one runner in scoring position down the stretch, and were retired in order in the ninth inning.
The Gators will aim to rebound during a Wednesday afternoon doubleheader, as they take on Oswego State in at 12 p.m. at the Chain of Lakes complex in Winter Haven, Florida.
