WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – After a dormant first game at the plate, the Allegheny offense awakened midway through the nightcap of Wednesday's doubleheader against Oswego State, upending the Lakers, 6-1, after dropping a 7-0 decision to Oswego State the previous day.
Sophomore
Robert Julian scored the win for the Gators in game two, pitching 4.2 innings of scoreless work, striking out five batters while only allowing a pair of hits to pick up his first win of the season. At one point during the middle of the contest, Julian retired eight consecutive batters, setting the stage for his team to score their third win of the season.

Jacob Shick each picked up a pair of hits. Shick led the team by driving in a pair of runs, as Bronson and Killian each crossed the plate twice.
Allegheny sophomore
Patrick Orr drove in a run for the Gators, providing a critical insurance run in the fifth for his first RBI of the season. Freshman
Cullen Flaherty batted 1-for-2, scoring a run for the Blue and Gold.
Oswego State struck first in the top of the second, utilizing a sacrifice fly ball to take an early, 1-0 lead. Allegheny tied the game up in the bottom of the third, as Bronson launched a single through the right side to start the rally for the Gators.
With Bronson on first, senior
Zach Gray rocketed a double down the left field line, bringing Bronson to third until a walk to Killian loaded the bases with one out. Shick logged his first RBI of the afternoon with a sacrifice fly to center field, bringing in Bronson to tie the game at 1-1.
Julian retired the Lakers in order in the top of the fourth before the Gators took the lead in the bottom of the frame. The Gator rally began with two outs in the inning, as Flaherty doubled down the left field line. DiMaggio singled on the first pitch of the next at bat, placing runners on the corners before a double to center by Bronson scored Flaherty, giving the Gators their first lead of the afternoon.
Allegheny tacked on a critical insurance run in the bottom of the fifth. Killian doubled down the left field line before a single by Beaumont put runners at the corner. Facing a 1-2 count, Orr sliced a single through the left side, driving in Killian for a 3-1 lead. The Gators did most of their damage in the sixth inning, as the Gators scored three runs on three hits.
After a leadoff single by DiMaggio, Bronson reached on an Oswego error, then scored on a passed ball later in the ending. Shick logged his second RBI of the afternoon with a single, plating Killian before a single by Beaumont ended the inning with the Gators leading, 6-1. Julian went back out to work in the top of the seventh, striking out the opening batter before shaking off a Laker single by forcing a pair of fly outs to clinch the win for the Gators.
Bronson, Killian and Sardini notched a hit for the Gators in game one, but the Lakers pitching staff held the Gators to only three hits during the contest, using a five-run third to open up the opening contest. The Gators threatened in the second and the third, as Bronson and Sardini, respectively, led off the inning with a single, but Allegheny was unable to cash in on the opportunity.
Allegheny will battle Benedictine University on Thursday, March 19th at 12 p.m. at Frostproof, Florida before closing out spring training on Friday, March 20th with a doubleheader against Bowdoin College.
