SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Allegheny College volleyball team fell to top-seeded Wittenberg University in straight sets (18-25, 14-25, 11-25) this evening in the opening round of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament.
Allegheny (17-12) sophomore libero
Terra Schall continued her pursuit of the single-season program record for digs with a match-high 21. Schall, who had 13 digs in the first set, has cracked the 700-dig plateau and is now 11 shy of breaking Adriana Pennekamp's mark of 722 from 2005.
Offensively, freshman middle hitter
Bree Blair led the Gators with five kills. Sophomore right side
Morgan Bush added three on a .231 hitting percentage, while classmate
Justine Kelly also tallied three to couple with her eight assists.

Leah Franzluebbers paced Allegheny with three blocks (one solo, two assist), while Blair added two (one solo, one assist) stops at the net.
Wittenberg (22-2), who entered the match ranked No. 5 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, received double-doubles from Kara Seidenstricker (10 kills, 17 digs) and Melissa Emming (10 kills, 13 digs). Seidenstricker added a match-high four service aces on the evening.
Allegheny will open up the consolation bracket tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. against Denison. The Gators will close the day against either Oberlin or Kenyon at 3:00 p.m. in the fifth or seventh-place match.
