MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Gator women's volleyball squad maintained their hot start to the season by winning one of three pools, sweeping through Baruch and Moravian on Friday evening at the Buttermaker Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College. The Gators would pick up a 3-1 victory over Baruch before upending Moravian, 3-0.
Earning a 25-11, 25-19, 16-25, 25-10 victory over Baruch, the Gators were led by freshman
Alyssa Lebowitz, who ended the game with a team-high 15 kills. Sophomore
Taylor Samuel tacked on 12 kills while freshman
Leah Franzluebbers dominated on the front line, finishing the match with 6.5 total blocks, including four solo stops while tacking on five assisted blocks. Freshmen
Christa Cash and
Kylee Karczewski tallied two aces each, while fellow first year
Justine Kelly recorded 43 assists. The Gators ended the game with 14 total team blocks, tying the total number of blocks from last week's Saint Vincent Bearcat Challenge.
In their second match of the evening, the Gators faced a difficult task in the resiliant Greyhounds, but ultimately clinched the sweep with a 25-12, 25-22, 29-27 victory. Against Moravian, Samuel led the Gators with a season-high 16 kills, hitting a .275 clip. Swartz finished the second match of the evening with eight kills, while Franzluebbers finished a strong performance with a pair of solo stops. Kelly added 27 digs while senior

The Gators will next play hosting Muhlenberg at 10 a.m. on Saturday before closing their tournament schedule against Shenadoah at 12 p.m., immediately following the conclusion of the first contest.
