Box Score MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Wabash Little Giants relied on senior ace JT Miller to pick up an early, one-game advantage in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Crossover series with a 6-3 win over Allegheny on Saturday afternoon at the Robertson Complex. Game two was postponed with the Gators leading in the fourth, 2-0, due to rain.
The Little Giants plated five runs in the second inning off of six hits, taking an early, 5-0 lead that held due to a strong pitching performance by Miller. The senior hurled a complete game effort, holding the Gators to only five hits. For the Gators, senior
Kyle Davis threw 8.2 innings, striking out seven batters. In the contest, Davis became the new program record holder, improving his career total to 246.1 surpassing the previous record of 239.2, recorded by 2000 graduate Jeff Mountain.
Davis set the program history with his first out in the top third inning, surpassing Mountain's career mark on a groundout by Steven Curry. The Gators used the momentum from Davis' record-setting inning to plate their first run of the game scored their first run in the bottom of the third. Junior
Eric Weyant sent a single to left on the first pitch of his at bat before a double to left by Shick drive home the junior.
After Wabash plated an additional run in the top of the fourth, the Gators began to stage a rally in the bottom of the frame. Junior
Zach Gray was walked on four pitches, as fellow third year
Adam Bronson launched a single to right to put runners at the corners and no outs.

Ben Murray put the Gators on the board, scoring Gray on the play and the Bronson after a throwing error by the Wabash right fielder to give the Gators their second and third runs of the game. With a runner at first, Allegheny was unable to score another run in the inning, keeping the Wabash lead at three runs.
Wabash threatened in the top of the fifth, placing a runner into scoring position, but came up empty. The two teams played to a stalemate over the next several innings, as the Gators were retired in order in the fifth and sixth innings.
In the seventh, Weyant advanced to scoring position with two outs after a fielder's choice and wild pitch, but again the Gators were unable to record a key hit and cut further into the Wabash lead. Miller clinched the game by retiring the Gators in order over the final two innings to send Wabash to a crucial game one win.
Allegheny struck first in game two, plating a pair of runs in the first inning. Weyant launched a single to right, leading off the inning before Davis scored a bunt single to third, moving Weyant to second. Gray sent a single to right that scored Weyant and opened the scoring in game two. Bronson followed suit with an RBI single to right, bringing home Davis and giving Allegheny a 2-0 lead.
Junior starting pitcher
Steven Ramsdell earned the game two start, only allowing one hit through the first three innings. After a lengthy rain delay, Ramsdell faced a two-on, one-out situation, but was able to get out the inning with his second strikeout of the afternoon.
Play was suspended due to rain in the fifth, set to restart on Sunday at 11 a.m., with the third game of the NCAC Crossover series immediately following the conclusion of game two.
