Box Score GRANVILLE, Ohio -- Trailing by 12 at the halftime break, the Allegheny women's basketball squad stormed back to take the lead late in the second half, but a late run by the Case Western Reserve Spartans upended the Gators, 76-67, on Saturday afternoon at the 2013 Denison University Classic Tournament.
Sophomore
Rachel Vigliotti continued her recent offensive success, leading the Gators with 16 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the field, including a pair of three-pointers, and a perfect, 6-for-6 day from the free-throw line. Over her last four games, Vigliotti has averaged 15.5 points per game, and is shooting 90.3 percent from the charity stripe. The sophomore tacked on a team-high five steals, adding a pair of assists.

Emma Pellicano finished with 12 points, as the sophomore added six rebounds to lead the team on the glass. Sophomore
Jessica Mrdjenovich tied Vigliotti for the team-high with a 2-for-6 afternoon from three point range, finishing the 11 points, two assists and four rebounds. Junior
Marina Scarantino led the Gators in assists for the fourth time this season, recording a five-point, three-assist performance.

Kendall Hoffman, the reigning Allegheny Female Athlete of the Week scored nine points, adding four rebounds, three steals and a block.
Case jumped out to a seven-point lead four minutes into the contest, but Allegheny took advantage of a 7-2 run to take their first lead of the contest, 15-14, with 13:22 remaining in the half after a layup by Vigliotti. The Spartans took the lead right back, increasing the gap to double-digits with three minutes remaining in the half. Case took advantage of Allegheny miscues in the first half, scoring 16 points off of 15 turnovers to take a 43-31 lead into the break.
Pellicano started the scoring in the second half with a layup, as a Vigliotti three-pointer cut into an early Case run to bring Allegheny to within 11. A layup by Hoffman with 16:31 remaining in the second brought the deficit to within single digits, as a pair of converted free-throws by the junior cut the lead to one with 11:09 remaining. After the Spartans continued the back-and-forth affair by building the lead back to four, Scarantino drilled a three-pointer with 5:46 remaining to bring the deficit back to one.
Allegheny solidified the game's third tie after a pair of free-throws and a jumper by Pellicano, as the teams stood at a 63-63 stalemate with 3:59 remaining. Mrdjenovich gave the Gators their first lead of the second half with a free throw, putting the Gators up by one. A layup and free-throw by Pellicano gave Allegheny a 67-63 lead with 2:56 left, but Case responded with a game-ending, 13-point run to clinch the victory.
The Gators will return to Denison on Sunday afternoon to take on Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) member Muskingum at 1 p.m. before opening North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play against Hiram on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.
