Allegheny Athletics Unveils GatorsTV

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Allegheny College has recently announced a three-year streaming pact with Stretch Internet to serve as the provider for the Gators' video and audio broadcasts. Beginning this fall at www.gatorstv.com, friends and fans of Allegheny's vibrant intercollegiate athletic program will be able to catch much of the action from across the globe.

Featuring a fully customized, Flash-based media player and viewing portal, Allegheny is intent on delivering high-quality broadband service of its home athletic events to viewers free of charge.

The initial focus will be aimed at covering events at Frank B. Fuhrer Field and the Wise Center Performance Arena, although providing coverage of the Blue and Gold's women's soccer, baseball, softball, and swimming and diving programs during the 2011-12 season is a high priority. In addition to live events, Allegheny is ultimately looking to expand the programming schedule to include coach's shows, interviews, press conferences, and community events.

The initial broadcast is set for Saturday, Sept. 3 as the Gators' storied grid program kicks off the 2011 campaign against Bethany College. Ray Riesdorph and Vic Kress '60, who served as the on-air talent during last season's radio broadcasts, will provide the color and play-by-play.

“Stretch Internet has emerged as an industry leader in providing dedicated streaming solutions to college athletic departments, and their reputation in terms of quality, support, and customer service is outstanding,” said director of athletic communications James Kramer. “We are excited to introduce this service to the Allegheny community, and look forward to developing a robust on-line video presence for our athletic teams.”
