Bob Muth earned Allegheny's second NCAA individual wrestling title in three years, capturing the hardware in the heavyweight division at the 1983 NCAA Championships.  The top-seeded heavyweight in the 1983 D-III National Championships, Muth downed his first three opponents by a combined score of 25-9, before taking the gold by topping 325lb mammoth Malcolm McLeod of Concordia in the finals.

In addition to his NCAA title, Muth won four consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference heavyweight titles and was a two-time All-American.  He was named the PAC's MVP as a junior in 1982, going on to take seventh at the NCAA championship to garner honorable mention All-American honors.

Muth finished his career with an impressive 106-14-6 record, and the 1983 graduate was a first ballot inductee into the Allegheny Hall of Fame in 1993.
