Robert Muth '83

  • Class Graduate Student

Biography

Muth earned Allegheny's second Division-III individual wrestling championship in three years in 1983, as he dispatched Malcom McLeod, a 325-pount mammoth from Concordia to earn the national heavyweight title.  Muth was the top-ranked wrestler in the nation heading into the national event, as he went undefeated throughout the season, winning the Presidents' Athletic Conference championship.

Muth’s career, however, certainly amounted to much more than just that one shining moment. A highly-recruited high school wrestler, he immediately made an impact during his freshman campaign for the Gators, winning his first of four straight PAC championships and being named the Gators' Freshman of the Year.   He went 30-3-2 in his junior year of 1981-82, capped by an honorable mention All-American honor after a seventh place finish at the NCAA championship. Bob Muth’s career record at Allegheny is an incredible 106-14-6.

A 1983 Allegheny graduate, Muth was a first ballot inductee to the Allegheny Hall of Fame in 1993.
