Thomas Elcott won the first NCAA individual wrestling title in Allegheny history in 1980, capturing the crown in the 150-pound division. He went a perfect 5-0 in the National Tournament to capture the title, and earn his second of three straight All-American honors.  As a sophomore in 1979, he took fourth in the nation, before taking runner-up honors in 1981. The 1981 recipient of Allegheny's William E. Johnson Trophy for outstanding wrestler, Elcott was also a three-time Presidents' Athletic Conference finalist, and helped the Gators to 14th-place finishes at the NCAA tournament in both 1980 and 1981.Â
A 1981 graduate of Allegheny, Elcott was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 1993.Â
