A native of Houston, Texas, Taylor Coffman was named the head coach of the men's and women's tennis teams on August 9th, 2019. She joined the Allegheny coaching staff as an assistant coach in August 2018 after working at her alma mater, Midwestern State (Texas), for three years.
Coffman most recently worked in the Midwestern State's athletic communications office as a sports media associate since August 2016, as she assisted with all aspects of the office's day-to-day duties, including the production of live webcasts, authoring and disseminating press releases and game recaps, designing various publications, and generating and coordinating media coverage.
She was an assistant coach on the Midwestern State women's tennis staff for the 2016 season, helping the Mustangs to a 19-10 overall record and a berth in the NCAA Division II national playoffs. In her role on the coaching staff, Coffman assisted in all day-to-day aspects of the program, including the development and execution of daily practice plans and game plans, as well as in-match strategy and adjustments.
Coffman enjoyed a prolific four-year playing career as an undergrad at Midwestern State, as she graduated as one of just six players in team history to total 100 career combined wins. She was a three-time All-Lone Star Conference honoree (twice for doubles, once for seniors), and along with teammate Kayla Casey, earned a ranking of 20th in the ITA Division II national doubles rankings as a junior in 2014, and 17th in 2015. The tandem was also ranked in the top three in the ITA South Central region in each of the two seasons, while Coffman was tabbed the 2015 ITA South Central Region's Most Improved Senior of the Year.
A two-year team captain, Coffman helped the Mustangs to two Lone Star Conference titles, three straight South Central regional championships, and three trips to the NCAA Division II national tournament, as they racked up a combined record of 59-18 between her sophomore and senior seasons. This run was highlighted by a 2015 season in which the Mustangs advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in team history.
In addition to her achievements on the court, Coffman also excelled academically, as she was named an ITA Scholar Athlete as both a junior and senior, and was a three-time selection to the Lone Star Conference's Commissioner's Honor Roll. She was also named to Midwestern State's President's Honor Roll, was a member of both the Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Societies, and was tabbed Midwestern State's 2014 Outstanding Junior of the School of Mass Communications.
She graduated from Midwestern State with honors in 2015 with a B.A. in mass communications and minor in public relations and advertising.
