Jerod Peters was hired in the summer of 2023 as Allegheny College's assistant athletic performance coach.
In this newly-created role, Peters assists Director of Peak Performance Corey Mason in designing and implementing performance programs for Allegheny's 21 varsity athletic teams. This includes building strength and conditioning plans specifically designed to meet the needs of hundreds of student-athletes and their respective sports and overseeing the varsity weight room in the Wise Center.
Peters will work directly with Gator student-athletes on the women's basketball, football, golf, lacrosse, swimming and diving, and track and field teams.
A Nebraska native, Peters relocated to Western Pennsylvania after two years as a graduate assistant at Tennessee State University. With the Tigers, he administered comprehensive training programs for Tennessee State's football and track and field teams. Peters boasts additional Division I experience as an intern at the University of Alabama and the University of New Mexico. During his internship in New Mexico, he worked alongside Mason while assisting with the Lobos' baseball and football programs.
Peters broke into the strength and conditioning field during his undergraduate years at Concordia University, Nebraska. In addition to helping Concordia's baseball, football, and tennis teams, he was solely responsible for the preseason strength program that helped him and several throwing teammates qualify for the NAIA national championship meet.
A four-time national qualifier, Peters was a five-year member of Concordia's track and field team. He earned three All-Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) awards in the shot put. During his graduate season, he represented the Bulldogs in the NAIA Championships in both the shot put and hammer throws.
Peters earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a master's in business administration from Concordia. He completed a second MBA at Tennessee State in 2023. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and holds a level-one certification from USA Weightlifting.
