Mike, a standout thrower on the Gator men's track & field team, serves as a student intern with the cross country program. He was vital during the 2013 season in coordinating race day volunteers and in assisting with event management during both the Allegheny Invitational and the 2013 NCAC Cross Country Championships.
A native of Bolivar, Pa. and graduate of Ligonier Valley High School, Petro is currently in his third season on the Allegheny track & field team, and has developed into one of the top throwers in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Named Second Team All-NCAC in the weight throw for the 2013 indoor campaign, Petro owns four of the top five throws in program history in the event, finishing second at the NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. In outdoor, he is also one of the Gators' top throwers in the hammer throw, shot, and discus.
