Former Allegheny College Gator Paige Ziggas '22 returned to Meadville to join the softball coaching staff ahead of the 2024 season. An All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) center fielder, she will work primarily with the outfielders this spring.
A two-year team captain for the Gators, Ziggas started 87 of the 90 games she played between 2019 and 2022. For her career, she batted .285 with 74 hits, 39 runs scored, 34 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases. Her best performance came as a senior in 2022, when Ziggas started all 32 games and produced career highs in nearly every category with 31 hits, 18 runs, and 13 RBIs while striking out only once. That spring, she was recognized as an All-NCAC Honorable Mention.
After graduating from Allegheny with a degree in neuroscience, Ziggas enrolled at Carlow University in Pittsburgh. As a graduate student for the Celtics, she hit .267 with 27 hits and 21 runs, helping Carlow qualify for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Small College World Series. Additionally, Ziggas was named to the USCAA All-Academic Team.
With a passion for speech therapy, the Beaver, Pennsylvania, native is pursuing a master's in communication science disorders at Carlow. She spent the 2022-23 academic year as a graduate assistant in Carlow's speech-language pathology program.
