Career Performance
2013-14: All-NCAC performer in both the weight throw and hammer throw… Established new school record in the weight throw with a heave of 54’10.25” at the NCAC Indoor Championships, finishing second and topping his previous personal best by over seven feet… Took first in the weight throw at the Denison Last Chance with a throw of 49’3”… Won the hammer throw at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational (3/29) with a toss of 179’2”… Competing against a Division-I-heavy field at the Bucknell Bison Open, finished fifth in the hammer with a throw of 169’1”… Finished second in the hammer (168’11”) and fourth in the discus (129’10”) at the Carnegie Mellon Mid-Week Invite (4/16)… Set new Allegheny record in the hammer with a throw of 180’1” to take second at the NCAC Outdoor Championships.
2012-2013: Threw a career best in the shot put at the Marietta First Glimpse Meet with a throw of 10.43 meters... Placed third at the NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in the weight throw with a distance of 14.55 meters... Outdoors, threw a career best in the hammer throw at the Gator Invitational with a throw of 48.04 meters.
2011-2012: Threw a season best in the weight throw (12.53 meters) at the NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships (3/2/12)...Earned a season best in the hammer throw (40.04 meters) at the VMI and W&L Carnival (3/23/12)...Threw a personal best in the discus throw (36.70 meters) at the Mount Union John Homon Invite (4/6/12).
Personal: Born February 9, 1993... Son of Polly and Tom Petro... Biology major with Dance and Movement Studies minor... Serves as Allegheny Inter-Fraternal Events chair... Graduate of Ligonier Valley where he lettered in football and track and field... Owns school's bench press record... Three-time PIAA District track and field qualifier, doing so twice in discus and once in shot.
