Markham Hyde returns for his second season as an assistant coach with the Gators’ track & field program after leading the team’s throwing contingent to fantastic heights during the 2011-12 campaign. Allegheny’s throwers authored 51 personal records and nine All-Conference plaudits during Hyde’s first year with the Blue and Gold, while he helped guide Lauren Butler to her third All-American honor in the javelin and a sweep of the NCAC Field Athlete of the Year awards.

A 2006 graduate of Utah Valley University, Hyde was a three-time team captain and instrumental in the school’s transition as a Junior College to classification as an NCAA Division I institution. During his tenure with the Wolverines, he set school records in the weight throw and the hammer. He also established a state record in the weight throw while attending Davis high school in Kaysville, Utah.

After serving as a student assistant at Utah Valley a year following his graduation, Hyde officially began his college coaching career as a graduate assistant at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, where he earned his Masters of Education. Joining the Storm coaching staff during the team’s first year of Division II competition, Hyde helped the program establish new school records in every throwing event.

In 2007-08, Hyde produced eight scorers at the Utah State Track & Field Championships as a member of the coaching staff at Syracuse high school.

Markham, wife Brittany, and daughter Lynlee, reside in Meadville, Pa.
