Kim Gallavan

Kim Gallavan is in her third year after joinining the Allegheny College coaching staff in August 2017. 

One of the most accomplished track and field student-athletes in the history of the Ohio Athletic Conference, Gallavan will specialize in coaching the Gator throwers, and arrived in Meadville after spending the 2016-17 campaign as assistant coach at Capital University.
 
At Capital, Gallavan coached the team’s throwers and horizontal jumpers, while assisting head coach Hannah Weiss with all administrative aspects and day-to-day operations of the men’s and women’s track and field program. She coached a total of five All-OAC performers in her disciplines, including conference champions in the women’s indoor shot put and the men’s indoor and outdoor triple jump.  Gallavan also saw her athletes set new program records in the men’s and women’s hammer throw, the men’s weight throw, the men’s triple jump, and the men’s long jump.  
 
Prior to her stint in Columbus, Gallavan began her coaching career as an assistant throws coach at her alma mater, Baldwin Wallace.  She assisted the head coach will coaching at events, while also assisting in creating workout plans and identifying prospective student-athletes.
 
Gallavan graduated from Baldwin Wallace in 2016 as one of the top throwers in NCAA Division III.  As a senior, she was a three-time NCAA champion, capturing gold in both the indoor and outdoor shot put, as well as the indoor weight throw.  She holds Baldwin Wallace program records in the weight throw, shot put, and hammer throw, while her personal best throw of 18.33 meters in the weight is also the top performance in Ohio Athletic Conference history.  In 2016, Gallavan was named the USTFCCCA Women’s Field Outstanding Performer of the Year, and the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Regional Women’s Field Athlete of the Year.  In all, Gallavan tallied 13 all-conference honors, six All-America accolades, and was twice named the OAC’s Outstanding Indoor Field Athlete of the Year.
