Michael Kenney

Michael Kenney was hired as the Allegheny men's basketball assistant coach in August 2015.

A Cincinnati, Ohio native, Kenney arrives in Meadville after spending four seasons as an assistant on the men's basketball staff at Marietta College.  While with the Pioneers, he was part of the most successful stretch in program history, as the team went a combined 84-26 during his tenure, and advanced to a pair of NCAA Division III National Tournaments.


The Pioneers were ranked in the top-20 in the D3hoops.com poll throughout the past four seasons, highlighted by a 2014-15 campaign in which Marietta was ranked in the top five for several weeks midseason, before finishing 28-4 after advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time in team history. With Marietta, Kenney was responsible for organization, distribution, and breakdown of film scouting, overseeing all recruiting, coordinating travel arrengements, assisting with strength and conditioning programs, monitoring the team's academic performance, and assisting the head coach will all day-to-day operations, including game and practice planning.  

Prior to Marietta, Kenny worked for two seasons as a student assistant on the men's basketball staff at Division-I University of Dayton.  With the Flyers, he was integral in the team's video scouting of opponents, as well in overseeing the filming of all Dayton games and practices.  He also assisted in the planning, organization, and recruitment of youth athletes to the Flyers' boys basketball camps and clinics. 

Kenney graduated from Dayton in 2011 with a B.S. in education, majoring in sports management and minoring in leadership.  He then went on to earn a Masters in Coaching Education from Ohio University.
