Grant Spicer enters his first season as an assistant men's basketball coach at Allegheny College in 2025-26.
Spicer joins the Gators after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Otterbein University. During his tenure with the Cardinals, Spicer helped Otterbein achieve back-to-back winning seasons, culminating in consecutive appearances in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) tournament. In his first year, the Cardinals posted 17 wins, tied for the most in a season in the past two decades. Otterbein finished the 2023-24 campaign ranked seventh in the country in field goal percentage at 49.5% while also leading the OAC in scoring defense, assist/turnover ratio, and 3-point field goal percentage. Spicer not only coached five All-OAC selections, but he also assisted with the team's academic and community service efforts.
As a student-athlete, Spicer was a four-year member of the men's basketball program at one of Allegheny's former North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rivals, Ohio Wesleyan University. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native became the fifth player in team history to earn NCAC Newcomer of the Year in 2019-20. A three-time captain, Spicer started all but four of his 90 career appearances and led the Battling Bishops in rebounding three times. During his senior campaign, he ranked second in the NCAC in blocked shots, sixth in field goal percentage, and eighth in rebounding.
Spicer graduated from OWU in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in health and human kinetics. He completed his master's degree in exercise science at Otterbein earlier this spring.
