Allegheny men's basketball head coach Bob Simmons has announced the addition of Evan Bonnaure to his coaching staff, heading into the 2019-20 season.
Bonnaure arrives in Meadville after spending the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Division II East Stroudsburg. Prior to that, he spent four years as a Division III men's basketball student-athlete at La Roche.
While Bonnaure was at East Stroudsburg, the Warriors made a pair of NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championships, including a run to the 2018 Elite Eight in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The two-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East champions and 2018 PSAC champions held an overall record of 48-14 (.774) during his tenure.
Bonnaure was a team captain at La Roche as a senior during the 2016-17 season. He was a key contributor to a program that notched its first 20-win season in nearly a decade and reached the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championship game. During that season he averaged 11.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He was an all-conference selection, and was also named to the 2017 All-AMCC tournament team.
Bonnaure graduated from La Roche with a bachelor's degree in history. He was a three-time academic all-conference selection, and a four-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He completed his master's degree in exercise science at East Stroudsburg.
