Entering his eleventh season, Travis Gillespie will once again be in charge of the Gator offense. This will also be his second season as the team's quarterbacks coach. He is in his fifth season as the offensive coordinator, but has orchestrated the offense since the 2008 campaign. He spent the previous eight years on the offensive side of the ball, mentoring the running backs, tight ends, receivers, and offensive line. Prior to that, he had a two-year stint as the Gators' defensive line coach.
While maintaining a balanced offensive attack, Gillespie has coached 19 NCAC All-Conference selections (seven directly, 12 offensively), one D3football.com All-Region, and one CoSIDA Academic All-American. Even with the balanced attack, his staff and players have helped to set new records in four different areas, including pass attempts in a season, career passing yards, career passing attempts, and career passing completions.
Before arriving at Allegheny, Gillespie was an assistant coach at Tri-State University (now Trine University) for two seasons. As the offensive line coach, he mentored four all-conference selections, and one All-American. He began his coaching career with a two-year stint at Defiance College.
A native of Perry, Ohio, Gillespie was a four-year letterwinner in football and three-year letterwinner in track and field at Augustana College. He later transferred to Defiance, receiving a Bachelor's degree in communication.
Travis and his family (wife Elizabeth, son Joey, and daughter Carlee) reside in Meadville.
