Rob Wenger

Rob Wenger is in his first season as defensive coordinator of the Gators' gridiron unit. After one year at one of the top high school football programs in the country, Wenger returns to Allegheny where he served as an assistant coach during the 2010 campaign.

Wenger spent the 2011 football season as defensive coordinator at St. Thomas Aquinas, a recent two-time high school national champion that was recently named as the nation's top pipeline to the NFL by Rivals.com. He also served one season as the inside linebackers and assistant special teams coach at St. Thomas Aquinas in 2009.

Between his stints at the perennial high school national power, Wenger served on the Gators' staff as the outside linebackers coach where he was also responsible for all aspects of Allegheny's defensive scouting reports.

Wenger was an operations assistant at Rutgers University before being promoted to player development coach for the 2008-09 season. At Rutgers, Wenger assisted with film evaluation, scouting preparation and game-planning of all special teams, while serving as an academic monitor and mentor to the Scarlet Knights' players.

Wenger earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Anthropology with a minor in Educational Studies from Colgate in 2008, and in 2010 completed his Masters of Education in Athletic Administration from Nova Southeastern University. A two-year letter winner for the Raiders, he spent his last season on the sidelines as an undergraduate assistant. Wenger coached the tight ends, fullbacks and offensive line while coordinating the scout team defense. In the spring of 2008, he volunteered as the tailbacks coach.
