Richan Gaskins

Richan Gaskins was hired as the football defensive coordinator in the spring of 2015.

Gaskins came to Allegheny from Washington D.C.’s Gallaudet University, where he spent the past three seasons as the secondary coach and assistant recruiting coordinator.  The Bison put together three winning seasons during Gaskins’ tenure, highlighted by a 2013 season in which they finished 9-2, won the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference title, and participated in the NCAA Division III playoffs. In 2014, Gallaudet finished 21st in Division III in total defense, and seventh in the nation in passing defense (144 yds/gm).   In each of his three seasons with Gallaudet, he produced two All-ECFC selections at cornerback, including 2012 D3Football.com All-American Tony Tatum.

In addition to his coaching experience at Gallaudet, Gaskins served as a training camp defensive intern with the Baltimore Ravens, where he worked extensively with the defensive staff in cutting and analyzing film, creating play cards, and in assisting the defensive coaches during positional drills.

A native of Washington, D.C., Gaskins played football collegiately for two seasons at Duquesne University, where he graduated with a degree in communications.  He then went on to receive a Masters of Science in strategic leadership from the University of Charleston.
