Curtis Bailey approaches his third year after joining the Allegheny College football staff in February 2017.
During his first football season on the Gator staff, Bailey mentored the team's cornerbacks, and helped the unit total 23 pass break-ups and four interceptions. His unit was led by Chase Balla, as the freshman earned All-NCAC honors after leading the Gators with 77 tackles and four pass break-ups. He was one of four members of Bailey's unit to total at least four TFLs, as Clarence Long totaled seven, Craye Nehler five, and David Perez four.Â
A native of nearby North East, Pennsylvania, Bailey returned to northwestern Pennsylvania after spending the 2016 season as the linebackers coach and run game coordinator at the University of Rochester. He also served as the team’s video coordinator, and assisted the team’s special teams coordinator, travel coordinator, and strength and conditioning coordinator in both in-season and out of season workouts.
Bailey spent the 2014 and ’15 seasons at Gannon University as the team’s defensive backs coach and video coordinator, helping the Knights to 15 wins over the two years. In addition to his work in coaching the team’s cornerbacks, Bailey was also responsible for breaking down opponent film and coordinating film exchanges, assisting with the team’s in-season and off-season strength and conditioning programs, and assisting the academic coordinator with grade reports and study hall monitoring.
He began his coaching career at North East High School, where he served as defensive backs and quarterbacks coach from 2010-13. Creating practice plans for both sides of the ball, he also helped generate scouting reports and assisted with film study.Â
Bailey is a 2014 graduate of Penn State-Behrend, with a bachelor’s degree in English.  He and wife Kate are the proud parents of son Weston, born in July 2017, and daughter Caroline, born in June 2019.Â
