Andrew Fragale

Andrew Fragale joined the Gator coaching staff in July 2017, and oversees the team's defensive line.

In his first season at Allegheny, Fragale's unit was one of the most dynamic in the NCAC.  Then-junior defensive end Colten Buzard earned All-NCAC honors and CoSIDA Academic All-District accolades after setting an Allegheny program record with 21.5 tackles for loss, and tying the school mark with 12.0 quarterback sacks. Defensive tackle Marcus Davenport recorded 11 TFLs and 3.0 sacks, while Kyle McGee made 6.0 TFLs, and 3.0 sacks.  
 
A native of Emporium, Pennsylvania and graduate of nearby Clarion University, Fragale came to Meadville after spending the 2016 season as the defensive line coach at Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota. He was responsible for overseeing all facets of the defensive line, as well as kickoff coverage, while also handling a wealth of recruiting duties.  Under Fragale’s watch, the Beavers finished with the top passing defense in the Northern Sun Conference, while defensive tackle Dalton Houghton earned All-Conference accolades after picking up a team-high four sacks.
 
Fragale graduated from Clarion in 2015 with a B.S. in sports management and minor in business administration.  A perennial Dean’s List selection, Fragale was a four-year starter on defensive line for the Eagles.  As a senior, he was named the team’s Defensive MVP, while earning All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) honors, and being selected to compete in the 2015 All-American Bowl in Mexico. During his career, Fragale racked up 20 sacks, as well as 55 tackles for loss.
 
Fragale attended Cameron County High School, where he was a three-time All-Conference selection at both linebacker and fullback, while he was named the Big 30 Defensive Player of the Year in 2009, and was named All-State by Pennsylvania News in 2010. Pennsylvania News All-State in 2010, and the Big 30 Defensive Player of the Year in 2009.
