Box Score ALTOONA, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Saint Francis University on Tuesday night at Mansion Park in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
While Saint Francis transitions from Division I to Division III, matches against the Red Wolves (4-0) do not count towards the standings in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). The loss, however, is reflected in the team's overall record, which stands at 2-1 in dual competition.
The Gators, who competed without their top two singles players, still managed to win the third doubles match and the last two singles matches. But the top of the Saint Francis lineup, which still contains multiple D-I all-conference athletes, clinched the victory for the undefeated Red Wolves.
In the fifth singles match, junior
Evie Ellenberger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) won both of her sets against Julia Ritchey with a 6-1 score. In the sixth spot,
Karlie Nicolae (Medina, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) made her collegiate debut with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
