EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Allegheny College women's flag football team is scheduled to appear at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's Flag Football Media Day at MetLife Stadium on Friday, February 27.
Head coach
Abigail Haynie and captains
Rosa Monarch (Mason City, Iowa/Mason City) and
Azalia Berndt (Red Lodge, Mont./Red Lodge) will participate in the first-ever ECAC media day, hosted by the New York Jets, along with players and coaches from the league's other 14 charter members.
The inaugural event will not only include an opportunity for the Gators to speak with local and national media but also to tour the Jets' facilities and participate in photo and video shoots. There will also be a discussion panel focused on the continued growth of flag football. Kay Adams, host of the NFL daily show, Up & Adams, will emcee the discussion with panelists ECAC Commissioner Dan Coonan, USA Football Senior Director of High Performance and National Team Operations Callie Brownson, and Team USA flag football player Brianna Hernandez-Sliva.
The panel discussion at 11 a.m. and media Q&A sessions at 11:45 a.m. will be streamed live on
www.newyorkjets.com and the Jets App.
In December 2025, the Betty Wold Johnson Foundation and the New York Jets announced a $1 million commitment to the ECAC to launch the largest collegiate flag football league in the United States. Gameplay will feature the 7-on-7 format of flag football. Regular-season games will be played from February through April on campus sites, culminating in the championship game at the Atlantic Health Training Center during the first weekend in May.
Allegheny's inaugural women's flag football season is scheduled to begin with a doubleheader at Mercyhurst University on Wednesday, March 11. More details, including a full schedule, will be announced in the near future.
