Women’s Basketball Celebrates Senior Day with Win

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's basketball team celebrated Senior Day with a 61-45 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory against Franciscan Saturday (Feb. 14) in Meadville.

Prior to the contest, the Gators honored their three seniors: Kate Leach (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington), Jess Bickart (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) and Sarah Santicola (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area).

Isabella Antonacci (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) recorded her first career triple double as well, finishing with 13 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.

After the teams were tied at six following the opening quarter, they continued to go back-and-forth in the second. Knotted at 13, the Gators rattled off a 6-0 run as the Barons called a timeout. In the final minutes of the half, the Barons made up some ground but Allegheny led 23-17 at the break.

Antonacci had seven points in the first half. Additionally, her nine rebounds helped the Gators have a 28-20 edge in that category.

The Gators opened the second half on an 8-0 run. A timeout by Franciscan failed to halt the momentum as the run grew to 13-0 before the Barons got on the board in the half. Allegheny continued to control the pace of the third quarter as they outgained the Barons 24-10 in the frame as they shot 55% (11-of-20) from the field and pulled down 15 rebounds.

The Barons battled back with a 7- 0 run to start the fourth, cutting the Allegheny lead to 47-34. The teams traded points as the rest of the way as Allegheny maintained their lead en route to the conference victory.
