MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny men's soccer team celebrated their Senior Day Saturday (Oct. 3) against Bryant & Stratton with a 2-0 victory.
Prior to the match, the Gators honored their seven senior members:
Cole Bowser (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll),
Jose Cifuentes (Guatemala City, Guatemala/The Kiski School (Pa.)),
Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge),
Charlie Hutton (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville East),
Nick Magee (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township),
Mathis Nolet-Gagne (Quebec City, Quebec, Canada/Northwood School),
Quinn Stefaniak (Butler, Pa./Saint Joseph).
The teams battled back-and-forth throughout a scoreless opening 45 minutes. The Gators outshot the Bobcats 7-5 while Hutton made two stops.
In the 60th minute, the Gators broke up the scoreless game. Gruca delivered a cross into the box from the far side of the field. Magee got to the ball on the near post. His first attempt met the goalie, but the senior quickly pounced on the rebound and buried it in the back of the net.
The Gators added to their lead in the 66th minute.
Ben Keefer (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) attempted a free kick from about five yards inside the midfield line. His attempt dropped into the far top corner of the net for the long goal.
Allegheny held tough the rest of the way as they celebrated senior day with a 2-0 win.
