Perry Nets Career High Points in Loss

BETHANY, W. Va. – The Allegheny men's basketball team fell in a close Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) road game at Bethany, 85-73, Saturday (Jan. 31).
 
The contest remained close throughout until a late Bethany run.
 
The teams went back-and-forth early on as a three pointer by Jayson Perry (Tampa, Fla./Sickles) gave the Gators a 13-10 lead five minutes in. Minutes later, the Bison rattled off 11 straight points as they moved ahead, 24-15. Allegheny slowly chipped away at the lead as a three by Max Wallace (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) brought it down to 35-32 with four minutes remaining in the half. At the end of the half, Bethany led 38-34.
 
Wallace scored 15 points in the first half while Perry had nine. The Gators shot 46.2% (12-26) from the floor and had a 19-15 advantage in rebounds. 
 
Perry hit a lay-up for the first basket of the second half, but the Bison would score the next nine points to take an 11 point lead. The back-and-forth continued as the Gators answered with an 8-0 run to cut the lead down to three, 47-44.
 
The Gators and Bison continued to battle in the second half. Leading 62-58, the Bison went on a 10-2 run to regain momentum. In the final minutes, the Bison limited the Gator opportunities as they pulled away for the conference win.
 
Inside the Box
  • Perry led the Gators with a career-high 22 points. He went six-for-six from the free-throw line.
  • Wallace finished the game with 17 points.
  • Ryan Lang (Sarver, Pa./Knoch) netted 16 points while leading the team with seven assists and six rebounds.
  • James Sitter (Erie, Pa./Fairview) was the fourth Gator in double figures, scoring 13.
  • Pijus Latauskas (Vilnius, Lithuania/Kiski Prep (Pa.)) rounded out scoring with five points to go with five rebounds.
  • Isaiah Portis (Medina, Ohio/Norwayne) collected four rebounds.
  • The Gators shot 47.2% (25-53) from the floor.

  • Allegheny is now 44-39 all-time against Bethany.
  • Perry had a career-high 22 points.
