MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's tennis team moved to 5-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play as they collected a 7-0 win at home against Waynesburg Wednesday (Sept. 24).
The evening started with a Gator sweep of the doubles matches.
Evie Ellenberger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and
Emiliia Grydnieva (Kyiv, Ukraine/Optima) teamed up at first doubles for a 6-2 win.
Gabrielle Bassette (Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day School) and
Maria Lounder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) won at second doubles 6-1 while
Giada Palmieri (Berlin, Germany/Paulsen Gymnasium) and
Adriana Navarro (Distrito Central, Honduras/DelCampo School) had a clean 6-0 win at third.
The Gators ended the match by sweeping the six singles matches. Bassette, Palmieri, Lounder and Navarro all earned their second wins of the day.
Rei Etsumi (Honolulu, Hawaii/President William McKinley) at third and
Anabel Bachman (Rogers, Ark./Bentonville) at sixth rounded out the singles victors.
