Box Score WOOSTER, Ohio -- The Allegheny College women's tennis team flexed its muscle at the Wooster Invitational, a four-team tournament hosted by the College of Wooster on Saturday and Sunday.

Facing opponents from Wooster, Oberlin College, and Otterbein University, the Gators posted a remarkable 37-7 overall record. Even more impressive, Allegheny lost only one of 24 singles matches throughout the two-day event.

First-year Gabrielle Bassette (Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day School) and sophomore Evie Ellenberger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) led the way for Allegheny, as both finished the tournament undefeated. As a doubles team, they outscored their opponents 30-9, highlighted by a 6-0 shutout victory over the Otterbein tandem of Brenna Ball and Daniela De Mata.

Bassette and Ellenberger extended their success to singles competition, too, as both were a perfect 3-0. Bassette also faced De Mata in a singles match, where she outlasted the Otterbein sophomore in a super tiebreaker, 14-12. Ellenberger defeated one opponent from each team, including a decisive 8-1 win over Wooster's Elyse Errington in an eight-game pro set on Saturday.
