MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team won a pair of matches, including their 2025 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener, Friday (Sept. 12) as part of the 2025 Gator Invitational.
Allegheny opened the evening with a sweep of Geneva, marking their PAC opener. The Gators then closed the night with a sweep of Mount Union.
Match One - Allegheny 3, Geneva 0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-14)
The Golden Tornadoes led early, but the Gators quickly regained the lead as Geneva called a timeout trailing 9-5. The Allegheny momentum carried through the timeout as their lead reached 15-6 as Geneva called their second timeout. After the timeout, Geneva battled back to pull within two points, 16-14. Allegheny controlled the pace the rest of the way, capturing the opening set 25-18.
The Gators jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the second set. They used that early momentum to carry them to a 25-11 set two win, ending the frame on a
Xania Fleming (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands/Charlotte Amalie) block.
Once again, Allegheny built an early lead to begin the third set. The Gators maintained that lead the rest of the way as they completed the PAC opening sweep with a 25-14 set win.
Inside the Box
- Carlee Pepperman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) led the Gators with 15 kills. She also had 10 digs.
- Skyler Fatola (Queen Creek, Ariz./Eastmark) finished with 10 kills and three aces.
- Amaya Brooks (North Olmsted, Ohio/Lutheran West) had eight kills and five digs.
- Carly Beers (Warren, Pa./Warren) ended with five kills while Sydney Kirk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic) had four.
- Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) had 33 assists.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) led the backline with 20 digs.
Match Two - Allegheny 3, Mount Union 0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-23)
After some back-and-forth play to start, the Gators slowly built a 13-9 advantage. The set remained close as the Purple Raiders pulled within two points at 17-15. After an Allegheny timeout, Mount Union tied it up. The back-and-forth continued late into the set as the teams were tied at 24. Knotted at 24, a kill by Brooks gave the Gators a set point. The Purple Raiders had an attack error on the following point as Allegheny won the set 26-24.
The momentum carried over to the next set for Allegheny as they started on a 9-4 run. The Purple Raiders eventually tied the set at 14 before taking the lead. The back-and-forth continued as the Gators rattled off a 5-0 run to regain the lead, 19-16. Following a Mount Union timeout, the Gators continued to run well. Leading 24-18, Fatola ended the set with a kill.
The teams were evenly matched for most of the third set. The Purple Raiders started to pull away late, taking a 21-19 lead. The Gators bounced back after a timeout, scoring three straight points to take the lead. Kills by Pepperman and Brooks gave the Gators a match point at 24-22. After the Purple Raiders defended the first match point, they served the ball long as the Gators completed their second sweep of the night.
Inside the Box
- Pepperman once again led the attackers, this time producing 16 kills with a dozen digs.
- Fatola also had a double-digit kill total, tallying 10 with three blocks.
- Brooks had nine kills in the contest.
- Gray totaled 34 assists, 11 digs and two blocks.
- Diaz had 18 digs while Alejandra Fernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth-Parkville) had 10.

- Allegheny is now 14-8 all-time against Geneva and 10-17 against Mount Union.
