Dylan Chan Hired to Lead Allegheny's Peak Performance Program

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Allegheny College's Director of Athletics and Recreation, Bill Ross, is pleased to announce that Dylan Chan has been appointed as the Gators' new Head Peak Performance Coach.

A Pittsburgh native and former Division III student-athlete, Chan began his new role on June 16. His responsibilities include overseeing Allegheny's comprehensive strength and conditioning program, managing the varsity athletics weight room, and maintaining the peak performance nutrition station in the Wise Center.

"We are thrilled to welcome Dylan Chan to Allegheny," said Jared Luteran, Assistant Athletic Director for Recreation and Facilities, who spearheaded the search committee. "His energy, knowledge, and passion for strength training will help continue to push our student-athletes to the next level."

"I am beyond excited to join the Gators as the Head Peak Performance Coach," Chan said. "I believe Allegheny is at a unique advantage for not only the PAC but Division III as a whole. The resources and staff support at the college reflect a strong commitment to student-athletes and the exciting potential for future growth. Student-athletes at Allegheny experience a holistic approach to athletics, supported not only by the peak performance staff and sports coaches but also through strong academic support."

Chan's keenness for fitness and weightlifting began during his time as a Division III student-athlete at La Roche University in Pittsburgh. A three-year member of the Redhawk baseball team, he founded the La Roche Powerlifting Club to promote student involvement in campus fitness activities, general wellness, and competitive powerlifting. Chan also taught an Intro to Weightlifting course in La Roche's Center for Lifelong Learning and spent one semester interning with the Redhawks' athletic training staff. In the summer of 2023, he had an opportunity to gain Division I experience as a strength and conditioning intern at nearby Duquesne University.

Before returning to Western Pennsylvania, Chan spent a year and a half as a graduate assistant for sports performance at the University of New Haven. In his role, he assisted student-athletes by providing nutrition advice and injury prevention guidelines while utilizing a variety of sports technology for performance testing. Chan was in charge of strength and conditioning for the baseball team's catchers, infielders, and outfielders, as well as numerous position groups on the Chargers' football team, including kickers, linebackers, tight ends, and quarterbacks. He also led programming for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, and women's tennis. During his tenure with the Chargers, the baseball, football, and women's tennis teams all captured Northeast 10 Conference championships and qualified for NCAA postseason play. In addition to implementing sport-specific, year-round training regimens for New Haven's Division II athletics teams, Chan served as an internship coordinator to help young professionals gain industry experience with a curriculum based on the National Strength and Conditioning Association's (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist programming.

Chan completed his bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science at La Roche in January 2024 and recently graduated from New Haven with a master's in sports management in May of 2025. He is certified by the NSCA as a strength and conditioning specialist and as a level-one coach by USA Powerlifting.
