Women’s Lacrosse Cruises Past Geneva

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's lacrosse team picked up a 22-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win at home Wednesday (April 23) against Geneva.
 
The Gators jumped out to a quick 11-0 lead in the first quarter. Erin Lowthert (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) had a hat trick in the frame while Ema Caragein (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle) and Ava Best (Butler, Pa./Butler) had two apiece. Kendall Cox (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein), Amelia Henderson (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny), Lauren Petrarca (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal) and Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) also found the back of the net.
 
Allegheny added seven more goals in the second. Lowthert scored twice as she achieved a career high in goals with five. Caragein also netted two more goals as the Gators led 18-0 at the break.
 
The Golden Tornadoes got on the scoreboard in the third quarter. Caragein, Petrarca and Lowthert scored for the Gators as they led 21-1 heading into the final quarter.
 
Reese Forella (York, Pa./Dallastown) scored the lone goal of the fourth as the Gators wrapped up the win.
 
Inside the Box
  • Caragein led the team with a career-high seven points off five goals and two assists. She also had two groundballs and two draw controls.
  • Lowethert also had a career-high with six goals. She also had four draw controls.
  • Petrarca had five points on three goals and two assists while also leading the team with 11 draw controls, five groundballs and three caused turnovers.
  • Smith also had five points on three assists and two goals.
  • Best scored twice and assisted twice for four points while Cox had three points on two assists and a goal.
  • Henderson found the back of the net twice while also picking up four groundballs and causing two turnovers.
  • Forella closed out the goals for the Gators.
  • Ella Ashton (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) made five saves in net. 
News and Notes
  • This marked the first meeting between the two teams as Geneva is in their inaugural season.
