CLEVELAND -- The No. 66-ranked Allegheny College women's tennis team was defeated by 18th-ranked Case Western Reserve University, 7-0, on Friday afternoon in Cleveland.
The Gators (18-7) concluded the regular season by facing a nationally-ranked opponent for the third time in their last four matches. CWRU (12-5), which also comes in at No. 3 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region poll, advanced to the third round of the NCAA Championships last spring.
All three doubles matches ended with the same score at 6-1. However, the Gators challenged the Spartans in the second and fourth singles matches.
Nicole Serna Cassan (Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico/Grandview Preparatory (Fla.)) took four games from Katalina Wang in the first set and led all Gators with six games won across both sets.
