MARIETTA, Ohio – The Allegheny women's soccer team fell on the road to Marietta 2-0 Saturday (Sept. 7) in nonconference action.
The Gators outshot the Pioneers in the opening half by a 10-6 margin, but it was Marietta that scored the lone tally of the frame. Their goal came in the 33rd minute off a free kick.
The Pioneers added to their lead in the 61st minute, once again taking advantage of a free kick opportunity.
The Gators continued to battle down the stretch with shots on goal by
Emma Tikey (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville),
Casey Bender (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) and
Katherine Surdykowski (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional) but were unable to break through as they fell 2-0.
Inside the Box
- Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy), Surdykowski and Bender put two shots on target each.
- Emily Beck (Martinsburg, W. Va./Martinsburg) and Tikey also had a shot on goal.
- Madison Lemanski (Bear, Del./Delaware Military Academy) made seven saves.
- The Gators led the Pioneers in shots, 19-16, and corner kicks 5-1.
