Wilson Defeats Field Hockey in Non-Conference Contest

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College field hockey team fell in a non-conference contest on Sunday afternoon against Wilson College by a 2-0 final score on the blue turf at the Robertson Athletic Complex.

The Gators (1-7) did their best to hold the Phoenix (6-1) offense in check. However, as the game wore on, Allegheny couldn't maintain enough possession to develop an attack and attempt a comeback.

The two sides played evenly throughout the first 15 minutes, and the Gators recorded three of their five shots in the quarter. One of Allegheny's best scoring chances was on a first-quarter penalty corner. The Gators passed the ball around the left side of the arc and fired centrally toward Bella Cowen (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day School), but her deflection was redirected by Wilson goalie Erin Sullivan.

Down by two in the last few minutes of the fourth, the Gators received new life thanks to a yellow card on the Wilson head coach. Despite being down a player in the field, the Phoenix did not surrender any shots for the final three-and-a-half minutes.

Inside the Box Score
  • Allegheny finished with five shots, four of which came in the first half.
  • Two of Allegheny's three penalty corners, however, were earned in the fourth quarter.
  • Wilson took 28 shots, including 15 on goal.
  • The Phoenix also held an advantage in penalty corners with 10.
  • Emily Robles (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) was responsible for four of Allegheny's shots, with the other coming from Cowen.
  • Goalie Rowan O'Toole (Glen Burnie, Md./Archbishop Spalding) made 13 saves while allowing only two goals.
  • Kate Seymour and Brea Kelso both scored once for the Phoenix.

News and Notes
  • Sunday's game was only the second all-time meeting between Allegheny and Wilson.
  • Four shots and three shots on goal are both season-highs for Robles.
  • In her first eight career starts, O'Toole has already broken the program single-season record for saves with 96, surpassing Hallie Reiger '23 and Meredythe Baird '24 (90).
  • O'Toole already ranks third all-time in career saves by a Gator, trailing only Baird (99) and Reiger (259).
