WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's lacrosse team put together another dominant performance on Wednesday evening with a 19-1 victory on the road against Waynesburg University.
The Gators (8-6, 7-1 PAC) matched their largest margin of victory of the spring with a rout of the Yellow Jackets (1-15, 0-8 PAC). The win extended Allegheny's win streak to seven consecutive games, with one remaining in the regular season.
Everyone on the team got involved in the action. Twelve different Gators scored a goal, and seven had multiple points. Leading the charge were
Ema Caragein (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle) and
Katherine Surdykowski (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional), who scored hat tricks as part of their five-point performances.
Kennedy Kyle (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley),
Lauren Petrarca (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal), and
Ashley Amato (Westerly, R.I./Westerly) each provided two goals and two assists for four points.
Three Gators netted their first collegiate goal against Waynesburg, including first-year defenders
Jamie Marchewka (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst Central) and
Emily Hildreth (Fairfax, Va./Oakton).
Sarah Thorman (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial), Allegheny's senior goalie, also played in the field for the entire contest and earned the first two points of her career with a free-position goal and one assist.
Allegheny nearly pitched a shutout. The Gators held the Jackets off the scoreboard for 48 minutes before giving up one goal three minutes into the fourth quarter.
