Men's Tennis Blanks Westminster on Senior Day

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College men's tennis team celebrated Senior Day with another Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory, as the Gators blanked Westminster College on Tuesday afternoon at the Robertson Athletic Complex.

The 9-0 win is Allegheny's (11-5, 6-0 PAC) fifth in six conference matches this spring. The defending PAC champions remain atop the standings with an unblemished conference record and two matches left in the regular season.

In doubles and singles competition combined, the Gators dropped only nine games to the Titans (2-9, 2-5 PAC). 

Senior Guillaume Emiliano Loinard-Gonzalez (Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico/Universidad Jefferson Morelia), who was recognized for his commitment to the team over the past four years, earned two wins against the Titans. For the first time this season, he played No. 1 doubles alongside Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet), and the duo won 8-0. Loinard-Gonzalez then jumped to No. 4 in the singles lineup, where he won 12 of 13 games played.

Hedlund, the PAC Player of the Week, defeated his first singles opponent 6-0, 6-0, as did Will Jarvie (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) in the second position. Allegheny also received a shutout from the No. 3 doubles team of Evan Nelson (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) and Reid Stasolla (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel).
