GROVE CITY, Pa. -- A remarkable 2024 campaign came to an end on Wednesday night, as second-seeded Grove City College defeated the third-seeded Allegheny College women's soccer team, 6-2, in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) semifinals.
Making their first playoff appearance in a decade, the Gators concluded the season with 12 wins, the most since 2014 and double what they earned just one year ago.
Wednesday's match proved to be similar to the regular-season meeting between the Wolverines (12-3-3) and Gators. In that contest on the blue turf at the Robertson Athletic Complex, Grove City scored the first four goals and withstood a late Allegheny rally en route to a 5-3 victory. This time around, the Wolverines scored four times in the first half and their 4-1 lead at the intermission was too much for the Blue and Gold to overcome.Â
Allegheny's goals came from a pair of seniors.
Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) scored in the 27th minute and
Olivia Wilson (Mars, Pa./Mars) found the back of the net off a corner kick in the 65th minute. Miller's marker was her team-leading 27th of the season, as she finished just one goal shy of the program's single-season record.
