Football Falls on Senior Day to #18 Washington and Jefferson

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College football team fell by a final score of 45-0 to No. 18/19-ranked Washington and Jefferson College on Saturday (Nov. 16) in their season finale.

Before the game, the Gators honored their 22 senior members: Vital Joseph II (Humble, Texas/Summer Creek), David Babb (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Chaminade Madonna), Malcolm Denomme (Edgewood, N.M./Moriarty), Cameron George (New Kensington, Pa./Valley), Trevor Brncic (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional), William DeCicco III (Fairview Park, Ohio/Padua Franciscan), Austin Williams (Warsaw, N.Y./Warsaw Central), CT Graniel (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory), Christian Bolden (Cleveland, Ohio/Charles F. Brush), Azary Matsuda (Roseville, Calif./Granite Bay), Garrett Paxton (Freedom, Pa./Freedom Area), Zach Altenbaugh (Industry, Pa./Western Beaver), Carson Messemer (Schenectady, N.Y./Schalmont), Mitchell Dugan (Akron, N.Y./Akron Central), Keller Liptrap (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay Village), Hunter Palmisano (Westlake, Ohio/Westlake), Jacob Michaels (Atco, N.J./Paul VI), Nigel Williams (Buffalo, N.Y./Cardinal O'Hara), Ian Durci (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell), Jonmarc Crawford (Guilford, N.Y./Sidney), Josh Salisbury (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) and Avery Jones (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted).

The Presidents scored touchdowns on all five of their possessions in the opening half. After the first was scored on the ground, quarterback Jacob Pugh threw for the next four.

The Gators nearly got on the board in the second quarter. They orchestrated a 13 play, 83-yard drive in just under eight minutes. But Allegheny fell just short of the goal line as a fourth-down pass by Brncic was knocked down at the line of scrimmage.

In the second half, Washington and Jefferson scored a touchdown on their first possession followed by a 27-yard field goal on their second to make it 45-0. The Gators forced a turnover on downs after that. A sack by Crawford on third and six, followed by a pass breakup at the line by Huriel Calice (Peabody, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) on fourth ball gave Allegheny the stop. However, the Gators were unable to punch it in as they fell in their final game of 2024.
