Allegheny's Offensive Line Named to D3football.com Team of the Week

D3football.com Release

MEADVILLE, Pa. --
Allegheny College football was recognized nationally by D3football.com on Tuesday, as the online publication selected the Gator offensive line for the Team of the Week following Saturday's season-opening win over Waynesburg University.

The starting quintet of Seth Jones (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard), Jack Turner (Sewickley, Pa./North Allegheny), Hunter Palmisano (Westlake, Ohio/Westlake), Keller Liptrap (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay Village), and Carson Messemer (Schenectady, N.Y./Schalmont) paved the way for the Allegheny offense in a 39-36 overtime victory against the Yellow Jackets.

The Gators outperformed Waynesburg in every offensive category with 198 yards on the ground and another 305 through the air for nearly 500 yards of total offense. Allegheny finished with 29 first downs, had a significant lead in time of possession (38:31-to-21:29), and scored the most points in a game since the 2021 regular-season finale.

With Jones, Turner, Palmisano, Liptrap, and Messemer containing the Yellow Jackets up front, Allegheny starting quarterback Jack Johnson (Hingham, Mass./Hingham/Milford Academy) tossed three touchdowns with a 74.2 completion percentage. Johnson was only sacked once in what proved to be his best passing performance since his sophomore year in 2021. On the ground, running back Tre Worship (East Cleveland, Ohio/Shaw) paced the team with 134 yards and three touchdowns. Worship was only tackled behind the line of scrimmage once on 34 attempts.

Jones, Turner, Palmisano, Liptrap, and Messemer are the second Allegheny offensive line group to garner D3football.com Team of the Week honors. In 2012, Jesse Battaglia '15, Ty Pryor '14, Taylor El-Ani '13, Conor Sharp '13, and Zack Palmer '15 were rewarded for their effort in a 20-17 upset against No. 7-ranked Wabash College in overtime.
