Volleyball Collects Road Win at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team traveled to Westminster Thursday (Sept. 21) for a nonconference match against Westminster, defeating the Titans in four sets (17-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-21).

The Titans got out to a fast start in the opening set. The Gators stopped four set point opportunities before the Titans claimed the set, 25-17.

The Gators bounced back in the second set. Tied late in the set at 23 apiece, a kill by Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) followed by a Westminster error gave the Gators the win, tying the match.

Allegheny rode that momentum into the third set. Leading by as much as 10, the Gators won 25-16 to move within one set of the victory.

Once again, the Gators jumped out to a big lead in the final set. The Titans fought back, tying the set at 10. Allegheny slowly started to pull away again, using a few small runs. Leading 24-21, a kill from Carly Beers (Warren, Pa./Warren) clinched the nonconference win.
