Gators fall in battle to Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Allegheny men's lacrosse team fell in a 9-5 battle on the road at Shenandoah Wednesday (March 8).

Shenandoah got on the board first before CT Graniel (Scranton Area, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) tied it on an unassisted goal. However, the Hornets scored the final three goals of the opening frame to lead 4-1.

After Shenandoah made it 5-1 to start the second, Jack Cushwa (Martinsburg, W. Va./Martinsburg) got the Gators back on the board with a goal, cutting the lead to 5-2. The quarter proved to be low scoring as the Hornets scored the only other goal in the 15 minute period as they took a 6-2 lead into the halftime break.

The Hornets lead grew to 8-2 early in the third, but the Gators responded with a pair of goals, both unassisted. JP Rakis (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson) tallied for the first goal before Aidan D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) made it 8-4.

Cushwa scored his second goal of the game to make it 8-5 in the fourth. However, the Hornets would score once more while holding the Gators off to seal the win.
